On 26thAugust 2017, twenty full time undergraduate students of 2014 majoring in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering in the program of Zhejiang Ocean University (ZJOU) - State Marine Technical University of St. Petersburg (SMTU)arrived in St. Petersburg . Twenty students from ZJOU have begun their academic study in SMTU.The joint cultivation program between ZJOU and SMTU on undergraduate level is one of the significant events among the joint higher education programs, which is necessary reality to follow the road to internationalization development for higher education.
In order to help students to tackle the language barrier and keep pace with the teachers’ demands on Russian level in academic study, the international affairs office has recruited Russian language experts. Russian language has been taught in two academic years by Russian language experts. In addition, the international affairs office has negotiated with the center of ТРКИ (Levels of the Test of Russian as a Foreign Language )and have signed cooperation agreements. Under the cooperation frame, ZJOU is approved to hold the Test ТРКИ (Russian as a Foreign Language and issue certificates), becoming the first ТРКИ test center in East China. 77% students in the program have passed the ТРКИ test (first level) and earned them the study entrance tickets in SMTU.

SMTU is the only university that cultivates and trains world -class marine engineers and experts. With diligence and inspiration ,the first 20 students in the program tackled the difficulties in Russian languages and professional courses to embrace their bright future and diversity in Russia.
Based on the characteristics of the project , we shall make joint efforts to construct the special project on the provincial levels. In addition, we are striving to become an important cradle for cultivating platform for teachers’ academic exchange and communications and we are striving to become an important cradle for cultivating innovative talents.
